While I’ve always enjoyed food, I used to only eat for the sake of addressing the hunger cues from my stomach. I ate because it’s what you are “supposed to do”. I prepared basic, traditional meals (like mom used to make) but used shortcuts just to get the process over with!
It was around this time that I also found myself becoming very aware of how severely anxious I was feeling. I experienced frequent emotional highs and lows. I thought I was doing everything right for my health: eating, keeping physically active, and sleeping (I often overslept to avoid my anxiety). Clearly this wasn’t the case.
